After the birth of your baby

There can be a variety of reasons why you may perform genetic testing on your baby, including paternity or twin testing, or looking for reasons for why your baby has an abnormality.

Blood chromosome testing: (congenital anomalies)

Chromosome anomalies can be the cause of congenital abnormalities, development delay and/or mental retardation. Analysis of your baby’s chromosomes may identify a chromosomal anomaly, see newborn birth defects and chromosome abnormality.

You doctor can arrange a chromosome test, or a microarray CGH test. A blood sample is required, see Blood sample collection

Paternity or Twin testing:

Paternity, Twin and sibship testing also referred to as family relationship testing is offered by our subsidiary company DNALabs.  Testing can be performed on adults, children or on a pregnancy and uses a molecular genetic technique (see PCR) to detect similarties and differences between the DNA of individuals.
