What is chromosome testing

Cytogenetics is the study of chromosomes, see chromosomes. Karyotyping is used to describe chromosome analysis which checks for the correct number and structure of chromosomes. Chromosomes can only be seen when a cell is dividing and they can be treated to display a banded pattern, similar to a bar code.
